Marketing Your Business Online:
..............................................................................................................
While we typically call people who join opportunities like MaxGXL for example  'affiliates',  you are in fact a business owner. The products at the company you have embraced are the basis of YOUR business. If you are a program owner or service provider - you are also a business owner.

Whether you belong to an affiliate program as a network marketer or distributor, or run your own services, or sell your own products, you, as a business owner, have needs and overheads. You need a place to do business. You need your products, goods or services to sell. Online your website is your business location. Offline your business oftentimes can be in your home.

You then need to build your team - your sales force. In network marketing this often involves contacting people you have never met and then recruiting them and training them to build their own business alongside yours.

With this in mind, you have actually 2 major goals as a business owner: One is to sell your product or service and the other is to build your team.

To accomplish your goals you need to ADVERTISE. In fact, probably the most time consuming and perhaps the most costly aspect of your business will be marketing and advertising. Offline, you have your print media, mail marketing, radio, television, and cable. Some like broadcast advertising can be quite expensive. Other media, like classified ads or business cards - can be very cost effective. What ever your budget, you simply must advertise to get the word out about your product, your business and your opportunity.

Online, you have LOTS of choices. A challenge sometimes is sorting through all those choices and finding the tools which work for you.  Xtream Global has assembled an entire suite of marketing resources for your use and created marketing sessions to assist you in using those resources to their fullest potential.  The tools provided you fall into two main catagories - Email Marketing and Link Marketing.

Each catagory of internet marketing has specific venues suited for certain purposes. Our courses will discuss major types of venues and then present specific resources for you to use.  The majority of the resources you will become familiar with are what is called "Permission Based." In other words, you must obtain permission to use the resources.  Below this area are some major points associated with Permission Marketing. Please take the time to read that discussion at your convenience.

Before we proceed to discussing the major types on online marketing resources, let's take a look at what marketing actually is:

What is Marketing?

You NEED to market constantly. Studies show people need to see or hear an ad as many as 7 times or more before they respond.
Permission Marketing

1. Whether free or paid for, Marketing is a privilege it is NOT a right

2. Free or Paid for, all Internet Marketing is based upon PERMISSION

3. Free or Paid for, you join sites to gain permission to market, to contact members, to contact your down line, to contact those whom you have sponsored.

4. Even if you purchase products, upgrades or services to market - they are still PERMISSION based.

5. When you join any venue  you give your permission to receive emails until the time you leave that program. The Program, the owners, your Sponsor can only contact you as long as you are a member of that specific program.

6. Once you leave a program - no one can email or contact you any further. Always remember to 'Opt-Out' of any program you leave.

7. Once you leave a program - contact those you sponsored to obtain permission to continue to email them. Make sure you put in  an Opt-out statement or mechanizim in your email to them.

8. If you are using so called ‘bulk leads’ you have purchased or obtained from programs - the responsibility for marketing and Spam complaints fall upon you.

9. Protect yourself from Spam complaints by marketing responsibly and including full disclaimers and the clause to ‘opt out’ of receiving future emails from you. Once you are contacted by a person requesting an opt-out or that you no longer contact them, remove them from your list immediately and do not contact them again.

10. Legitimate and responsible opt-in marketing venues that you join (safe lists, safeadlists, etc) protect you in many ways. Your personal information is never revealed to the members. Once you leave, your information is purged from the databases of those programs. If it was not, and the program or owner contacts you without your permission - Spam. However, make sure you have indeed un-enrolled in a venue BEFORE complaining. False Spam complaints are as serious as actual Spam.

11. Before you report anyone for Spam make sure you are not a member of that program or list. If you are not, report Spam to both your email service and the email the Spam came from. You need to see your Full Email Headers. Every email service has a function that enables Full Email Headers.  Each email service has a specific department for Spam reports. Examples: Yahoo is abuse@yahoo.com, Hotmail is  report_spam@hotmail.com MSN is report_spam@msn.com. Forward the Spam email with Full Headers to the applicable email service.

12. Repeating a very important point: make sure you have indeed un-enrolled in a venue BEFORE complaining. False Spam complaints are as serious as actual Spam. Market responsibly. Report Spam and abuse responsibly.
